Glasgow Open: It takes a club to win a medal

Last weekend DDS travelled to the Glasgow HEMA Open, the largest HEMA tournament in Scotland. Five competitors plus travelling support made the trip to Glasgow, and of the six competitions DDS took gold in three!

Alyson Duffy won the gold medal in both Womens+ Sabre and Longsword, and made it to the final four in the Open longsword. She also collected the Technical Prize for longsword, having excecuted some wonderful disarms and kurtzhaus.

I (Jack Fraser) won gold in the Open Longsword.

Successes like these only happen because of the club as a whole. Everyone at DDS who has trained with us, coached us, sparred with us, asked us awkward questions, or shown up and had fun fencing with us has contributed to those gold medals, so thank you!

Thanks also to Glasgow HEMA and the other competitors for such an enjoyable event.

Check out our bouts from the tournament in the above playlist.
